In 2018 Quito was described by The Independent as ‘fast becoming South America’s coolest capital’ thanks to its emerging art scene, great food, mountain views and rich history. Quito has several excellent museums including the Central Bank Museum and Casa del Alabado.
For fans of art the Capilla del Hombre which houses work of Oswaldo Guayasamin, Ecuador’s most famous artist, is definitely worth a visit. The city also offers chocolate tasting experiences and for those who enjoy great views the Teleferico cable car up onto the slopes of Pichincha Volcano makes for a great half day visit.

Learning about the fascinating history and living culture of the city, exploring the highlights of the colonial centre, then a light lunch together in the old town and onto visit either a handicrafts market where indigenous people and craftsmen from across Ecuador meet to sell their handicrafts or one of the local food markets, which gives you a great chance to see what local people buy and eat with all the sights, sounds and smells that go with it!
