November

Galapagos Islands in November

Visiting the Galapagos Islands in November offers calm seas, mild weather, and fantastic wildlife encounters. By this time of year, the trade winds begin to ease, bringing a gradual warming of both air and sea temperatures after the cooler months of the dry “garúa” season. The result is calmer waters and comfortable conditions for cruising, snorkelling, and exploring the islands.

Like May, November is a transition month between the two Galapagos seasons and is often considered one of the best times to visit. In fact, these are our two favourite months for guests to visit the Galapagos Islands. You can expect pleasant weather, good visibility underwater, and abundant wildlife activity both on land and at sea.

Galapagos Wildlife highlights in November:

  • Sea lion pups (around 3–4 months old) are playful and curious, often approaching snorkelers for joyful underwater encounters.
  • Giant tortoises can be seen in the lush highlands of Santa Cruz Island, where they migrate to feed after nesting.
  • On Española Island, waved albatross chicks become increasingly active as they prepare for their first flight. The adult albatross pairs continue their elegant courtship dances — a unique behaviour that helps strengthen lifelong pair bonds.

Galapagos Travel Experience in November

  • Visitor numbers drop slightly after the peak months (June–October), so it’s a quieter time to explore.
  • The seas are calmer, better for cruising, diving and snorkeling
  • You’ll still enjoy excellent wildlife encounters — with fewer boats and tourists at popular visitor sites.

In short: November offers a balance of comfortable conditions, thriving marine life, and fewer visitors — making it one of the most rewarding and peaceful times of year to experience the Galapagos.
