Although it is part of a chain hotel, the Guayaquil Wyndham is one of our favourite hotels in Guayaquil thanks to its great location next to the River Guayas and the Malecon 2000. It is very reasonably priced for the level of comfort it offers and as well as having a selection of restaurants and bars within the hotel itself, it is also next door to a number of alternative local options. A modern hotel as you would expect from the Wyndham group, with 175 generously sized guest rooms and suites many of which have river views. The hotel opened its doors in 2013 and has a swimming pool on one of its upper level floors.
The hotel sits between the river and the Cerro Santa Ana and the historic neighbourhood of Las Penas, right at the end of the Malecon 2000 the city’s famous riverside walkway. The hotel itself is in an area that is part of one of the latest regeneration projects in the city and the buildings around it are all new, however it is next to the historic neighbourhood. Many of the houses here have been beautifully restored (some haven’t but the gently flaking paint on these almost adds to the areas charm)!
Where possible we always request for our guests a river view room. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle service, which we recommend for guests taking their flights home – but you do need to book your space on the shuttle you would like the day before as they can get full up. The hotel is ideally located to explore the area around the hotel on foot. Your hotel is just a short walk from the Las Peñas District, the oldest of the city, and it’s currently fully regenerated to its former glory. It is historically the most important district of Guayaquil, whilst the houses are only around 100 years old.
The hotel also has a choice of restaurants inside the hotel, choose to unwind at the rooftop pool, spa, and fitness center.
