Discovering Galapagos with Robert E Fuller

Robert E FullerRobert E Fuller, one of Britain's foremost wildlife artists, travelled to Galapagos with Think Galapagos earlier this year. His paintings sell all over the world and his trademark, highly-detailed images have been adopted by the RSPB and the National Trust. He has exhibited in wildlife galleries across Europe and up to 7,000 people visit his own gallery in Thixendale North Yorkshire each year.

A recognized authority on wildlife, Robert often appears on television and regularly writes about his wildlife subjects for his local newspaper, The Yorkshire Post. His life-long passion for the natural world was shaped by his upbringing on a farm on the Yorkshire Wolds. Robert’s Christmas exhibition is now on at his gallery, entitled ‘My Yorkshire – an artist’s perspective.’

My Incredible Time in Galapagos

In May this year, I accompanied Think Galapagos founder Santiago Bejarano and two small groups of wildlife lovers on an awe inspiring trip to the Galapagos Islands. This trip provided the inspiration and material for series of paintings of the utterly unique wildlife on this remote archipelago, from blue-footed boobies to great frigate birds and bright orange sally light foot crabs. The paintings, produced back in North Yorkshire from the photos, video and memories that I bought back with me were then introduced at a special exhibition in July here in Thixendale and also as part of the Galapagos Conservation Trust’s Galapagos Day at the Royal Geographical Society in October 2014.

Following my trip, I put together a video to give people a taste of what we saw in this incredible place.

If you’ve been inspired by this video, why not accompany me on my next trip? I’ll be travelling with Think Galapagos again in May 2016. There are a few places left on each two week trip so if you’re interested, let us know!
